The annual meeting of the Canadian Communication Association
Call for Papers
Next June, the CCA conference will be hosted by York University. This annual meeting provides an opportunity for researchers to discuss and exchange their work amongst the growing community of Canadian communication scholars. In addition, the conference will be privileged by the participation of three distinguished scholars who demonstrate the interdisciplinarity and praxis marking communication research:
--Vincent Mosco, Canada Research Chair in Communication and Society and Professor in the Department of Sociology Queen’s University, is our opening plenary speaker and will address the Congress theme with his talk on “Strange Topography: Globalization at Ground Zero”.
-Terry Eagleton, Professor of Cultural Theory in the Department of English and American Studies at the University of Manchester will give the Ioan Davies Memorial Lecture courtesy of the Ioan Davies Memorial Committee; and
--Fred Fletcher, University Professor in the Department of Political Science and Communication Studies in the Faculty of Arts, and the Programme Director of Communication and Culture in the Faculty of Graduate Studies, is retiring after more than thirty years of active scholarship. His extensive contributions to the CCA and the field of communication studies will be recognized in a number of panels representing his work.
Theme
The Humanities and Social Sciences Federation has adopted the theme of “The City: A Festival of Knowledge” and we are calling for proposals that explore, critique and extend this theme through a communication studies’ perspective. Proposals on other themes are also welcomed.
