Canadian Journal of Communication Annual General Meeting May 31, 2007 Saskatoon, SK 12:15pm

1. Adoption of Agenda Moved M. Adria, Seconded G. Robinson
2. Approval of the minutes of the last meeting Moved R. Lorimer, Seconded M. Adria
3. Publisher’s Report (Smith) The publisher reported that the publication process is improving with new paper and online production processes in place, an excellent relationship with the editor and review editor, and circulation at or near historic highs.
4. Treasurer’s Report (Lorimer) The treasurer reported that the finances were in good shape, with a positive balance at the end of the year.
5. Editor’s report (Sawchuk) The editor reported that submissions were up (195 last year), articles were being published at a rate of about 40 per year, with a 34% acceptance rate. We typically publish one or two “special issues” per year.
6. Review Editor’s report (Bradley) The review editor reported that reviews are running smoothly but it takes quite a bit of coaxing to get people to submit a review. He wishes more senior people would participate. He has a plan to create a web site where “received books” can be highlighted.
7. Subscriptions Subscriptions are holding steady at about 430 subscriptions, mainly US institutions. Canadian individuals and institutions make up the next largest categories, with foreign and online subscriptions the smallest. We send about 46 free copies each month (to indexing services, past editors, etc), with 393 paid subscribers.
8. Elections -- Board of Directors With the resignation of Leslie Shade as secretary, we need a new secretary. We also have one position for a member at large. The following people were nominated and agreed to stand. They were acclaimed at the meeting: Secretary - Richard Smith 2007-2010 Member at Large: Gordon Gow - 2007-2010
